WHY IT'S HARD TO DELEGATE

Do you have a hard time delegating?

It's so so common!

You already know the conditions that make this such a common issue at work. We're short staffed. We have big goals.

But you might not know the INNER CULPRIT.

When you take on too much and you don't delegate, there is a bit of hogging going on... You want to feel indispensable to your team by being the keeper of specific knowledge.

But this might be driven by feeling deep down that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be.

Most people around you feel a version of the Imposter Syndrome, especially high achievers.

It’s part of our human condition to have this inner narrative that’s often subconscious and unchecked.

What you can do:

  • Ask for help when you need it. It doesn't help anyone if you're overworked, you are burned out, or you quit!

  • Decide what you want to delegate, and whom in your team can benefit from strengthening their skills and knowledge

  • Allow for failure. Each experience is an opportunity to learn.

  • Start a fear journal: I ask clients to write down all fears that come up. Everyone has fears—including those fearless leaders you work with. Share your fears with your team - it can help them feel safe to share their own.
