2 HAPPINESS BUILDING TOOLS
Patience and Commitment. The powerhouse I rely on for getting s**** done. I bet on these two tools and they haven’t yet let me down. They both guide me to keep my eye on the prize. They approve of my wild ideas, and cheer me on. They are born from the bigger power of Optimism, something we can absolutely grow on a Petri dish at home.
I’m back running, after three weeks of taking it slower and strengthening my hip with yoga and fitness. Feels so good to be back on my strong feet, literally!
Fell in love again with the concept of optimism after reading Martin Seligman this weekend - btw if you have any interest in understanding happiness as a positive psychology concept, I highly recommend reading his seminal book Authentic Happiness. But prior to this, he studied helplessness and later optimism, and found that both can be learned.
Similarly, I’m a firm believer and practitioner of the idea that Happiness is something we can learn and we can practice until it becomes our go-to, natural passive state. Then, even when we’re falling or are down or are off track, we can reach for tools like Patience and Commitment to our vision, because we KNOW things will be ok if we just keep going no matter what.
