PATH OF HAPPINESS WORKSHOP COMING UP!
"I feel stuck. I am not sure what I want and in which direction to turn. Should I change my job? Should I move? I want to be happier but don't know how."
Those are my thoughts from three years ago. Since then, my life took a significant turn. I spent the last few years doing research on what it means to be happy. I wanted to understand why some people are happier, more satisfied and fulfilled than others.
After interviewing people from several countries, and reading Positive Psychology, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Poetry, I developed a HAPPINESS FRAMEWORK that has all the "ingredients" that encompass the foundation of personal, subjective well-being. I developed this framework because I was craving a clear, crisp approach to understanding this complex concept.
This framework helped me feel more clarity of who I am, what's important to me, and where I'm headed. I feel more centered. I feel less scattered and less reactive. I feel l am a wiser parent than before. To some questions we will never have answers. But there is a lot we can do right now to raise our own awareness of who we are and how to bring more joy in our everyday life.
We'll deconstruct the concept of happiness. The original framework I developed is pretty simple. It's looking at the human life span from two perspectives: on one axis is our physical growth, and on the other, our internal growth. Together, they form three general areas in which we might find ourselves, and each leads to a larger, more open area, creating ripple effects in our consciousness and actions.
When looking at our consciousness and life from these two angles, we get 3 GROWTH RINGS of expanding consciousness. We'll discuss each of these in next week's workshop.
As the old saying "every acorn is an oak three" implies, every acorn has the potential to become an oak tree. With the right conditions and nourishment, the seed will go through a lengthy transformation to eventually become a tall, healthy, sturdy tree.
Nature has developed patterns that remind us that in the first season in our life (first of the 3 growth rings) our development is influenced primarily by what the French anthropologist Pierre Bourdieu called habitus, or social capital: family, our school, neighbors, culture, but also by our unique blend of personality, physical appearance, as well as skills, tastes, etc.
The second growth ring, is the season of awareness and knowledge, and finally, the third is the season of wisdom.
Research from Sonya Lyubomirsky, Ph.D., professor of psychology at UC Riverside, a leader in the field of positive psychology, found that we have the muscle to determine our own happiness. While about 50% of our happiness level is set, determined by our genetics, the rest is well within our ability to boost our level of happiness on the long term.
We'll dig into understanding how we got to be who we are now, uncovering our personal motivators and self-blocks, understanding our personal values, and reflect on our own wisdom.
Here is what it all boils down to. Like the universe itself, happiness is complex:
When we become aware of our motivations,
our values, and our self blocks,
and we begin to truly care for
our body, our soul, and our connections,
we strengthen our foundation of who we are and
what we’re meant to do,
we become conscious of our choices, and
we move through life with purpose, we follow our bliss.
We become the heroes we’re meant to be.
I'm so excited to see some of you at this workshop! I hope you'll fell as empowered as I feel, reflecting on who you are, what lead to your current conditioning, what part of you can be better taken care of, and what wisdom looks like. Yeah. Not ambitious at all :-)
My hope for this workshop is to help you shed a light on the mysteries of the energies pouring through you.
Come indulge yourself. Last workshop was a blast.
